At our company they need to export large excel files, sometimes with more than 1500 record (2->8MB!). I know this would put a lot of load on the CPU but we need to do so..and the PROBLEM is the server can't handle such request..

So I was thinking of modifying the Plugin source and integrate the PEAR "Spreadsheet_Excel_Writer" Package to see if this would help...because I think constructing a HUGE table and change the header to "application/vnd.ms-excel" is not efficient!

What do you think? should I proceed or you have any comment about it?

I don't know, if you think that using the PEAR module is better, you can try it.
