It would be great to have the ability to add a selection from a user list (all users for the current project?) as a type of custom field. This would allow us to record extra information about who gave a specific estimate and link that back to the actual user. At the moment we use a text field for this but this is prone to typos, and an enum is too cumbersome given that users change frequently.

With the LongCF plugin you can populate a custom field possible values with a SQL query. Take a look here.

Wow, that is great, thanks!

This will let us do a whole lot of cool things, now I need to do more research into how to get Mantis' MySQL to talk to our SQL Server ...

We have a timesheet system that uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005. I would like to integrate the two systems more closely together, using the custom fields on bug notes. In order to do that it would be nice to bring some of the lookup tables from MS SQL Server into MySQL - I'm not sure if that can be done easily, that's all.
